Sylvette: a Vignette
8-Minute Documentary Short. (2019)
Following their latest tour, this musically oriented slice of life documentary gives an artistic insight to the Mancunian Art-Rock band 'Sylvette'.
Sylvette: A Vignette, is a unique and refreshing take on the traditional 'band-on-tour doc' that shows the behind-the-scenes world of Art-Rock group, Sylvette. The creative nature of the band is reflected in the way in which the film is put together. This included using some 90s style VHS techniques to honour the era that influenced the band, as well as artistic concepts and new technology to convey the originality of the band. We also reimagined the works of Pablo Picasso and Lydia Corbett to visually show the group's roots and inspiration. We used their music as the structural linchpin for the edit, creating a sonic journey that reflected Sylvette's range and individualism.
The film was Produced/Directed/Shot by Theo Jessel and the Post-Production was undertaken by James Allen.
